Eitan Engelberg

Lifelong entrepreneur. AI-native operator.

Building, learning and looking for exceptional people to build with.

South African-born. Based in Israel. U.S. citizen. Looking toward the United States.

Hi. I'm Eitan.

I have been starting businesses for as long as I can remember.

At eight, I sold hats outside a grocery store. At 12, I sold shoes from my school locker. At 16, I started importing cycling eyewear into South Africa.

Since then, I have built businesses across telehealth, cycling, bicycle salvage, events, DJing and coffee.

Most recently, I built an international telehealth company alongside a full university workload at Reichman University in Israel.

I studied Economics and Entrepreneurship with Data Science and was selected as one of 22 out of 400 students for the Adelson Honors Program.

Shemesh was not built during a gap year or with my studies placed on hold. I built it between classes, exams and assignments, managing customers, therapists, developers and a seven-person team across several countries.

I am at my best when there is an idea to test, something to sell, a relationship to build or a messy problem that needs someone to take ownership.

About me

I grew up in South Africa, where I learned early that opportunity rarely arrives in a neat package.

You have to find the right person, make the call, sell the idea and create momentum before anyone gives you permission.

That shaped the way I operate.

I am commercially minded, deeply curious and comfortable figuring things out as I go. I enjoy working across growth, partnerships, sales, operations, research and special projects.

I also use AI as leverage to research markets, build websites, create automations, prototype ideas and execute faster.

The common thread across everything I have done is simple: I like turning ideas into real things.

What I am doing now

I am focused on the next chapter.

I want to work closely with exceptional founders, operators and investors who are building important, ambitious companies.

I am particularly interested in growth, partnerships, founder-led sales, special projects, new ventures and AI-enabled execution.

The exact title matters less to me than the people, the standard and the opportunity to take meaningful responsibility.

Long term, I want to help build generational companies.

I am always looking to connect with ambitious people, exchange ideas and find ways to be useful.

Shemesh Wellness

2025-2026 · Israel and South Africa

Shemesh was an international telehealth platform connecting South African therapists with patients seeking affordable, high-quality mental-health support.

I started it after seeing a gap between the cost of therapy internationally and the supply of talented, licensed professionals in South Africa.

I built the company alongside my university studies, not as a full-time occupation with a free schedule.

I worked across product, therapist recruitment, partnerships, sales, operations, customer experience and team management. I also led offshore product development with two full-time developers and a product manager.

Shemesh facilitated more than 1,500 sessions, generated more than $100,000 in revenue and built a network of 35 therapists.

I managed a seven-person operating team and secured three official partnerships with organizations supporting lone soldiers.

The biggest lesson was that growth means very little without focus, strong unit economics and disciplined operating controls.

Speedian

2020-2022 · South Africa

Visit Speedian

I started Speedian while still in high school.

As a competitive cyclist, I saw that quality cycling eyewear was expensive and that several strong international brands had almost no distribution in South Africa.

I began importing products, calling cycling stores and selling directly to riders.

Speedian eventually represented six Chinese cycling brands, reached 14 active retail stores, sponsored two professional cycling teams and generated more than 400,000 ZAR in revenue and 150,000 ZAR in profit.

I handled suppliers, importing, wholesale relationships, customer service, marketing and sales while completing school.

Speedian taught me that credibility can be created. You do not need to be the largest company in the market, you need the right product, strong relationships and the confidence to keep asking.

Bicycle Salvage

2021-2022 · South Africa

I started a bicycle resale business after noticing that insurance companies regularly wrote off damaged bicycles without having an efficient way to recover their value.

I cold-called insurers until I secured two insurance relationships.

I bought written-off and insurance-claim bicycles, repaired them and resold them into the market.

The business processed more than 100 bicycles, generated approximately 500,000 ZAR in revenue and produced roughly 300,000 ZAR in profit.

I personally handled insurer outreach, purchasing, pricing, repair coordination, listings and sales.

The business taught me that a strong opportunity is often hidden inside an overlooked operational problem. It also taught me that much of the profit in a business is determined when you buy, not only when you sell.

Other experience

My first attempt at entrepreneurship was selling hats outside a grocery store when I was eight.

At 12, I sold shoes from my school locker.

At 13, I began DJing professionally. I later performed at events across South Africa, Israel, Mykonos and New York, expanded into equipment rental and managed other DJs when events overlapped.

While studying in Israel, I helped run approximately 30 student events that attracted more than 10,000 attendees and generated over 200,000 NIS in revenue.

After high school, I started a coffee and food business. It did not work the way I had hoped, and I eventually sold it to my partner. It taught me difficult but valuable lessons about incentives, partner selection, financial controls and entering a business without enough structure.

I have also spent time inside automotive, banking, fintech, logistics, marketing and investment businesses. I deliberately used school and university holidays to learn how different companies worked from the inside.

This included exposure to WeBuyCars, Transaction Capital businesses, Absa's equities division and early-stage venture firms, including time learning closely from a managing partner.

Some projects worked. Some failed. All of them taught me how to sell, operate, build relationships and keep moving when the plan changes.

Personal interests

Before business became my main focus, cycling was a major part of my life.

I raced competitively, trained with professional teams and learned how much progress can come from consistency, discipline and doing difficult work when nobody is watching.

I have since completed an Ironman 70.3 and continue to train across cycling, running and swimming.

I also enjoy DJing, music, surfing, travelling, public markets and meeting people with unconventional life stories.

Let's connect

I am always interested in meeting founders, operators, investors and ambitious people building difficult things.

Whether there is an opportunity to work together, an idea worth discussing or simply something I can help with, feel free to reach out.
